Life is like a piano.  What you get out of it depends on how you play it. - Tom Lehrer

Learning to play a musical instrument has many benefits when it comes to both our physical and mental abilities:

Improves confidence, concentration, looking/listening skills, and rhythm.

Teaches respect, perseverance, time management, and how to prioritise.

Helps hand-eye co-ordination, and punctuality.

Develops the skill of sitting still, a good work ethic, patience, and how to accept constructive criticism.

Keeps you calm, off 'gadgets', and off the streets (children).

Playing a musical instrument can be joyful! It can help you to express your individuality, gain an appreciation of different genres and cultures, and can increase memory capacity.  Studies have shown that children who play a musical instrument excel more at school in mathematics and literacy, with improved vocabulary due to the introduction of musical terms that other children do not encounter.  There are also medical and brain function benefits, as playing an instrument is believed to reduce stress and anxiety by lowering blood pressure and reducing your heart rate.

As well as all these benefits, playing the piano can also strengthen hand muscles, develop dexterity in children, and enhance divided attention - the skill needed to concentrate on more that one task at the same time (in this case, playing a different sequence of notes with each hand) - which can make your brain sharper. Studies have also shown that playing the piano alters the development of the Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in children who play. HGH keeps you energetic and prevents issues such as aches and pains in old age and increased levels of HGH have been recorded in piano playing children.

Crazy Fish Music Studio - Golborne sits at the heart of our community, opposite the Town Square.  Our tutors are professional, friendly, highly qualified and experienced, and have themselves been taught by our studio owner who has over thirty years of teaching and performing experience.  We cater for beginners through to advanced pianists; from children to the more mature members of our community.

Our lessons can expand on what is taught in school music lessons, with the added benefit of being held on a one to one basis. Lessons can be taken for fun or with the view to taking exams - we are accredited with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and London College of Music (LCM).  Our lessons help with GCSEs, A-Levels and beyond, with the development of playing, sight reading, composition, improvisation, accompanying, and arranging.
